Mr. Eugene Raymond Markiewicz age 81 of Croton Twp., Newaygo, Michigan & formerly of Detroit died Saturday
November 16, 2002 at Fountain View Retirement Village, Grant, Mi . He was born Eugene Raymond Markiewicz in Poland, the only child of Rose Mazurkiewicz and Julian Markiewicz on October 10, 1921. He married Josephine Markiewicz on May 4, 1946 in Windsor, Ontario. He retired as a Pattern Maker for Chrysler Corporation after 37 years in 1984.. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, of the UAW Local 212 and the skilled Trades Association. Gene was a member of Newaygo County Sporstmans Club; Croton American Legion Post 381 & past member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Detroit and of the Newaygo Golf League.  Gene served in the Canadian Navy during World War II convoying to Murmansk, Russia.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM from the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fremont, MI, on Friday, November 22, 2002 with Pastor Norman Heintz officiating . Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Military Graveside honors by Croton American Legion Post 381 Visitation 2-4 & 7-9 PM Thursday at the McKinley Chapel, Newaygo. Memorials: WM Chapter Alzheimers Assoc.,Alzheimers Unit at Grant Fountain View or Hospice of MI.
