Mr. Joseph Henry Campbell age 89 of Newaygo , Michigan died Monday March 25, 2002 at
Transitional Health Services, Fremont, Michigan . He was born Joseph Henry Campbell in
Chicago, Illinois the son of Helen (Bohm) and Samuel Campbell on June 12, 1912. He married
Opal D. Swafford on November 9, 1981 in Fremont, Michigan. He was a self-employed brick mason until 1980. He was a member of Newaygo VFW Post #4249; Disabled American
Veteran Michigan Post #33. He was a veteran having served in the Army during
World War II from 05/17/43 to 12/31/45 when he was discharged as a PFC.
He is survived by his wife Opal D. Campbell, his children Dick & Mary Campbell, of Howard City, MI,
Diane & Donald Doyle of Sparta, MI, Ronald Campbell of Reed City, MI, his grandchildren Eric & Kristen Doyle,
Stephen & Daniel Campbell, his step-grandchildren, his great-grandchildren RaeAnna Campbell,
Anthony Tran & Catlin Boerema, his step-great-grandchildren, his great-great-grandchildren,
his brother Samuel & Elma Cambell of Grand Rapids, MI, his step-daughter Frances & Glenn Chamberlain of Newaygo, MI, his step-daughter-in-law Jeanette Swafford of Kent City, MI.
He was preceded in death by his sister Ann Newell and step-son Norman Swafford.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A. M. from the McKinley Funeral Homes-Newaygo Chapel,
on Saturday, May 18, 2002 with the VFW Chaplain officiating. A family
