Melvin and Judy Bellamy, both 55 of Beaver Island and formerly of Newaygo, died
November 10, 2002 of accidental injuries from an airplane crash in Lake Michigan near
Charlevoix. Melvin was born Melvin D. Bellamy May 28, 1947, in Fremont, MI, the son
of Leona May (Rice) and Oliver Frederick Bellamy. Melvin was a truck driver, was
a veteran of the Vietnam War, and enjoyed very much his airplane flying. Judy
was born Judy Ellen Spees September 21, 1947 in Grant, MI, the daughter of Bertine Lucille
(Brown) and Peter Ervin Spees. Judy was Treasurer of the Beaver Island Amvets
Auxillary. Melvin and Judy were married August 10, 1968 in
Newaygo. They are survived by their children Melissa & James Crova of Romulus,
Jennifer Bellamy of Royal Oak, and Michael & Jenny Bellamy of Newaygo and their
granddaughters Anna & Renee Crova. Melvin is also survived by his mother Leona
Bellamy of Newaygo, his brothers and sister Ron & Edie Bellamy of Newaygo, Dale &
Glenna Bellamy of Caledonia and Bev & Bob Karman of Kentwood. Memorial services
will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the Clavary Church, 777 East
Beltline in Grand Rapids, with Pastor Darryl Britton officiating. For memorials please
