Mr. Egbert E. "Bud" Chittenden, age 85 of Grant, died Monday, February 16, 2004 at his residence in Grant. He was born Egbert Elbert Chittenden in Muskegon, MI the son of Elsie Ann (Haan) and Elbert LeRoy Chittenden on August 20, 1918. He married Dorothe Mae Elliott on July 2, 1942 in Arlington Hts. Illinois. He was a Dairy Farmer until his retirement. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4249-Newaygo; Dad's Post #59-Newaygo. He was a veteran having served in the Army during World War II from November 7, 1939 to October 28, 1945 when he was discharged as a S/Sgt.

He is survived by his wife Dorothe Chittenden, his children John & June Chittenden of Jackson, Roger & Susan Chittenden of Newaygo, Linda & James Schuitema of Grant, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law Alice Chittenden of Spring Lake, and several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A M from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Thursday, February 19, 2004 with VFW Chaplain Leo Rathbun officiating. Interment will be in the Parkview Cemetery in Grant. Visitation will be held 5-8 P. M. Wednesday. For Memorials please consider Hospice of Michigan-Newaygo Co.. Military honors are under the auspices of the VFW Post #4249 of Newaygo.
