Paul Arthur Mattson, age 84, of Muskegon passed away on February 5, 2004 at Hackley Hospital. He was born on September 20, 1919 to Martha (Nelson) and Edward Arthur Mattson near Kent City. He married Lillian Doris Van Belkum September 20, 1940 in Kent City, Michigan.

Paul spent most of his life in Michigan, but also lived in Ohio, Missouri and Florida. He served in the US Army in WWII and worked at Continental Teledyne CAE for 37 1/2 years; retiring from Teledyne, Neosho. He was a member of the Kent City Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion in Haines, Florida.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 62 years, Lillian (Van Belkum), four children; Arthur (Lois) Mattson (Rockford, Mi), Joan (Arthur) Jourden (Muskegon, Mi), Marceil (Kenneth) Ducat (Sylvania, Oh), and Randy (Jeri) Mattson (Fayette, Mo); ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; sisters Doris (Brink) Bolthouse (Clarksville, Mi) and Evelyn (Melvin) Freeland (Casnovia, Mi); 1 brother, Herbert (Bonnie) Mattson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Clyde Austin; brothers, Donald and Lawrence, and sister Ivah.

Funeral service will be Monday at 1:00 PM at Kent City Baptist Church, 106 N. Main St., Kent City, MI., with Pastor Josh Fisher officiating. Burial will be at Seaman Cemetery near Bailey, MI.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at McKinley Funeral Home, 45 E Main St., Grant, MI. Memorial contributions may be given to the Kent City Baptist Church Building Fund.
