Mr. Jay King, age 80 of Newaygo, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Spectrum Heath-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. He was born Jay King in Williamsburg, Michigan, the son of Jenny (Hoffman) and Jay King on April 27, 1925. He married Betty Jane Donick on June 11, 1943 in Williamsburg, and she preceded him in death on December 9, 1973. He then married Betty Fern Adams on December 18, 1976 in Newaygo. He was a Agent at the Newaygo Depot for CSX Railroad for 36 years. He was the Newaygo City Clerk 8 years; Magistrate 10 years; member of the River Valley Cruisers Car Club; Life Member & Past Commander of the VFW Post #4249 Newaygo. He was a veteran having served in the Army during World War II from April 4, 1945 to November 30, 1946 when he was discharged as a CPL.

He is survived by his wife Betty King, his children Michael & Linda King of Newaygo, Ann Marie & Larry Woodward of Virginia, Starr & Ernest Sutliff of New Mexico, Kathy & Glenn Davis of Florida, Sid Babaula of Newaygo, Dixie & Mark Stinson of Grand Rapids, Barbie Adams of Grand Rapids, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P. M. from the VFW Post #4249-Newaygo, on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 with Pastor Sam Whittaker and the VFW Chaplain officiating. There will be no visitation. For Memorials please consider the VFW Post #4249-Newaygo.
