Mrs. Pearl M. Sweet, age 83 of Muskegon, formerly of Grant, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 in Muskegon. She was born Pearl Mae Vunck in Muskegon, the daughter of Emma Jane (Britton) and Earl Henry Vunck on November 26, 1922. She married Norman C. Buys on September, 1948 in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on November, 1954. She then married Austin D. Sweet on October 9, 1958 in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on May 23, 2000. She was a Payroll Clerk for CWC & General Telephone until 1963. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Newaygo where she was a former Worthy Matron and served on the Laketon Twp. Election Board. She was a veteran having served in the Coast Guard during World War II from October 30, 1943 to June 26, 1945 when she was discharged as a Seaman First Class.

She is survived by her children Richard & Gayle Sweet of Muskegon; Patricia Sweet of West Branch; Janet & Alan Short of Fremont; Louie & Margaret Sweet of Marcellius; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her sisters Dolores Poe of Muskegon and Barbara & Leonard Buys of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM from the McKinley Funeral Home, Grant Chapel on Tuesday, December 20, 2005. There will be no visitation. For memorials please consider the Ashland-Grant Fire Department.
