Ms. Helen Ione Bull, age 98 of Grant, died Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the Fountainview Retirement Village in Grant. She was born in Bailey, the daughter of Ethel (Brown) and John Kelly Bull on October 9, 1908. She received her teaching degree from Western Michigan and began her teaching career in 1927, teaching at various Muskegon Area Schools retiring in 1965 after 38 years to take care of her father. She was a member of North Casnovia Baptist Church where she was dedicated to various leadership and teaching positions. Helen loved good old-time gospel music and rarely missed an opportunity to lead, participate in, or play the piano for an old fashioned Hymn Sing.

She is survived by her brothers Kenneth Bull, Rodney & June Bull all of Newaygo, 10 nieces & nephews, 32 great-nieces & nephews, and several great-great-nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Forrest & Vernon, sisters-in-law Henrietta & Pauline and nephew Robert.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM from the North Casnovia Baptist Church, Bailey on Monday, July 30, 2007 with Pastor Kelly Carlson officiating. Interment: Seaman Cemetery. Visitation: 3-5 P. M. Sunday at the Church. Memorials: Church Building Fund.

I am very sorry for your loss. I had Ms. Bull as a 6th grade teacher in 1962 at Roosevelt School. She was very strict, but the only teacher who really taught me anything. She was a fine lady. Again sorry for your great loss.
