Mr. John C. Gerwig, aged 73 of Bailey, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at his home. He was born John Carlton Gerwig December 4, 1933 in Reed City the son of Mildred (Armock) and George Gerwig. He was a paint sprayer for 40 years at Keeler Brass in Grand Rapids retiring in January 1996. He was also veteran serving during the Korean Conflict era in the US Army serving from June 3, 1953 until being discharged May 10, 1955 as a PFC. Mr. Gerwig was a member of the Bailey Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife Katherine Gerwig, his children Jackie Lynn & Earle Crosby of Huma, LA, Carlton Gerwig of Phoenix, AZ, Sue & Robert Bitely of Bailey, Cynthia & Rick Fisk of Sand Lake, Clifford & Debra Gerwig of Scott, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, his sisters & brothers Linda Vandermeer of Sparta, Ivoline Baldwin of Grand Rapids, Walt Gerwig of Kingsford, Dorothy & Levern Vincent of Grand Rapids, Peggy & Floyd Jenkins of Casnovia, Robert & Sally Gerwig of Conklin, Jim & Karen Gerwig of Spring Lake, Josie Timmer of Sparta, Pauline & Larry Wemple of Bailey, Donna & Ray Caulkins of Muskegon, Kenny & Joan Gerwig of Comstock Park, preceded in death by his brother William Gerwig, his parents George & Mildred Gerwig.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 27, 2007 at the Bailey Christian Church with Mr. Daren Penwell officiating. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 PM Sunday at the Church and interment will be in the Seaman Cemetery near Bailey. For Memorials please consider the Church Building Fund and /or Hospice of Michigan.
