Mr. Leonard H. Holmes, age 85 of Grant, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. He was born Leonard Henry Holmes in Ensley Township, Newaygo County, the son of Sylvia Ann (Norwood) and Lyle Henry Holmes on September 21, 1922. He married Rose Marie Kochis on November 12, 1945 in Struthers, Ohio and she preceded him in death on October 3, 2003. He was a Factory Worker for Campbell-Wyatt-Cannon in Muskegon until 1984. He was a Communicant of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo. He was a veteran having served in the Army during World War II from February 19, 1943 to October 29, 1945 when he was discharged as a PFC.

He is survived by his children Michael & Marie Holmes of Hamburg, Sylvia & Sam Bull of Bailey, Sidney & Kathy Holmes of Newaygo, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, his brother Max Holmes of Grandville, his sister Frieda & Frank Gilbert of Howard City.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM from the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Newaygo on Monday, December 17, 2007 with Father Ron Schneider as celebrant. There will be no visitation. I am so sorry to hear of Leonard's passing. I didn't know he was in the hospital until a couple of days ago. I hope that I can make it to the memorial service. I am having surgery on December 6. You all have my deepest sympathy.
