Mrs. Barbara Marie Burgess, Age 89 of Big Rapids, formerly of Newaygo, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 in Big Rapids.  She was born Barbara Marie Johnson in Newaygo, the daughter of Anna Bell (Shick) and Edward Johnson on April 26, 1918. She married Benjamin Burgess on April 24, 1943 in Indiana and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1989.  She was a Secretary for Hummel Insurance until her retirement. Mrs. Burgess donated her body to the University of Michigan Medical School.  A memorial service will be held later.  Arrangements by Mckinley Funeral Home, Newaygo.
