Mr. James R. Higgins, Sr., devoted husband, and father passed away at home surrounded by his family Monday, June 16, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife Betty-Ann (Sabo) Higgins of 49 years marrying April 10, 1959 in Grant. He was born James Richard Higgins, in Grant, the son of Eva Jane (Peterson) and Lee Isaac Higgins on January 24, 1938. He was a Hi-Lo Driver for CWC, Muskegon until 1998 retiring after 30 years.

He is also survived by his children Sallie Ann & Randel Mount. Victoria Lee & Mark Jager, James Richard Higgins, Jr. all of Grant, his grandchildren Caresse & Wes. Dustin & Jessica, Kaitlin, Jillian, Hailey, Amber & Dave, his great-grandchildren Angelique, Kamren, Keaton, Brianna, Austin & Isabelle, his brothers & sisters June Campbell of Muskegon, Betty Beebe of Kent City, Lee & Lennie Higgins of Clarksville, TN, Walter & Paula Higgins of Grant, Archie & Judy Higgins of Bailey, his mother-in-law Theresa Sabo of Grant, his sisters-in-law: Blanche Higgins, Edna Higgins both of Grant, and his beloved cat Tody. He was preceded in death by several brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law Clayton Higgins, Bud Higgins, Margery Richardson, Erma Bisard, Clifford Campbell, Bob Richardson, nieces Connie Richardson, Peggy Campbell and nephew Robert Richardson Jr.
