Mr. Richard H. Ferner, age 82 of Grant, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at his home in Ashland Township.   He was born Richard Herman Ferner in Jamestown, Michigan the son of Amelia (Schnieder) and William John Ferner on November 3, 1926. He married Hilda Calista Manning on May 12, 1945 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was a Supervisor for Kelvinator‑White Consolidated Industries, Inc. until his retirement. He was veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife Hilda Ferner, his children Richard & Glenda Ferner of Ft. White, FL, Sharon & Timothy Kamphuis of Sparta, Linda & Joseph Reckenwald of Clearwater, FL, Ted & Collette Ferner of Pittsburg, PA, 11 grandchildren, 8 great‑grandchildren, his brothers Edward & Jane Ferner of Wyoming, William Ferner of Newaygo. Richard was preceded in death by his son Michael in 1971. At Richard’s request cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Monday, May 4, 2009 with Father Tom Boufford officiating. Graveside services will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the St. Sebastian Cemetery in Byron Center with Msgr. William Duncan officiating.
