Evelyn Johnson of Kent City , age 91, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Sanctuary of St. Mary’s after a brief illness. Born July 7, 1917 to John and Jessie Johnson, she resided at the family’s homestead her entire life. Besides being a successful grower and farmer in the Grant Area, she was an accomplished organist/pianist who volunteered her musical talents for much of her adult life to Grant Reformed Church. At the time of her death, she was the oldest lifetime member of that congregation.
 
Besides her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers Barney, Peter, James, Edward and Richard and her sisters Nell, Leida and Margaret. She is survived by her sister Frances Anderson, also of Kent City . She is also survived by and lovingly remembered by 37 nieces and nephews.
 
Services for Miss Johnson will be held at 1:00 PM from the Grant Reformed Church on Saturday, January 24, 2009 with Rev. Steve VanderWest officiating. Interment in HillsideCemetery .   Visitation 2‑4 & 7‑9  P. M. We were sorry to here of Evelyn's passing. We did not know she was ill. Steve really enjoyed working for her. I always enjoyed going with him to visit with Evelyn. She was always very kind and patient. We will miss her.
